Backlinks and visitor traffic
Posted by timtim | Filed under Uncategorized
Backlinks sometimes described as ‘page links’ are essential to the visibility of your web pages in the search engines and attracting visitor traffic. When thinking about backlinks there are three elements you need to consider, the source from which the backlinks are derived, the anchor text of the backlinks and what’s on the page to which the backlinks directs the visitor to.
The quantity of backlinks
The amount of backlinks to a page is one of the elements the search engines consider when deciding how to position the page in the SERPS (Search Engine Page Results).
The source of the backlinks
The pages from which backlinks originate pass ‘authority’ and traffic to the page to which the backlinks point. But ‘votes’ passed via backlinks from trusted or authoritative pages to a page have greater influence over the search engines consideration of this page than backlinks originating from pages with less ‘trust’ or authority. Obvious examples of trusted sources of backlinks carrying higher authority are pages belonging to education (.edu) and government (.gov) web sites..
Google Page Rank
Backlinks from web pages with high page rank (a value given by Google to each page that it has observed over a period to have attracted, sustained and continued to accumulate relevant backlinks) pass some of their page rank via the backlink to the target page.
The ‘anchor text’
When you see a backlink on a web page it often has a label a word or text associated with the subject at the page to which this backlink is pointing, what this ‘anchor text’ says has influence upon the value the search engines award to the link. If the content of the page is about ‘parenting’ and the backlink on the page is labeled or given the ‘anchor’ text ‘parenting’ then the search engines consider this to be of more value to the searcher looking for results related to ‘parenting’ than if the backlink was labeled ‘babycare’.
Common issues
It’s not unheard of for newbies to confuse the quantity with the quality of backlinks and easily be frustrated by their lack of progress For example if all of your backlinks to your ‘parenting’ page originate from sites not related to ‘parenting’ then whilst you have backlinks they will almost certainly bring you the wrong traffic.
How to manufacture backlinks
So here is my no obligation guidance for getting backlinks to your pages, good visibility in the search engine results pages and the right type of traffic to your site.
- It is essential you select the right keywords before you expend any effort whatsoever.
- I always set out to put together a keyword cloud.
- I always start with a single ‘top’ level keyword or key phrase which has substantial visitor traffic.
- To discover the amount of visitor traffic is being coming from searches for my primary keyword I use the Google keyword analyzer tool.
- The Google tool generates a list of keywords associated with my main keyword and from this list I flesh out my cloud.
- Using this cloud I generate a selection of content containing articles, videos and blog posts each with backlinks labeled with the related anchor text and then utilize a portfolio of content distribution tools to disperse my materials to a group of directories.
- When I write my content I do so with the searcher in mind so as each item of content attracts backlinks to itself as well as sends backlinks to my target pages.

Driving Traffic To Your Website
Posted by timtim | Filed under Uncategorized
Internet Marketing requires you to sell other people’s products or services. If you have decided to create your own product, you sell your own products in this case. Whatever your online business is, lots of traffic is what you need for your websites. Of course, you want traffic that are interested with your product or services.
In the early days of my internet marketing career, I tried many methods of getting traffic to my website. Many of the programs and services that I have purchased did not have a lot of effect on my website traffic.
Listed below are the three traffic generation techniques that I found most effective:
* Text Link Ads
Linking can be by either paid or unpaid methods. Adding links in e-zines or in other websites are some examples of paid linking methods. Since this method will cost you money, make sure to do your research first before leasing or purchasing link space. Make sure the traffic and ezine subscriber base is good enough for you.
One of the unpaid models is through article marketing . You may need to create many articles but it is proven to be beneficial in the long term. Keep in mind, your articles should be relevant and address the subject matter of your site and products.
* Pay-Per-Click
If you have some advertising budget, it makes sense to put it in pay per click. In this advertising method, you create an advertisement like in the classified section of the newspaper and bid on the keywords that you would like to target. You will need a lot of time and energy for research and monitoring if you do this manually and do not know the google secret loophole bonus materials. I would advise that you read your affiliate programs and pay per click rules before doing pay per click.
* Optimizing Your Website for Search Engines
This involves targeting a particular keyword and optimizing your website for that particular keyword. You may have to outsource the optimization of your website as this may be time consuming.
These are some of the effective ways to get traffic to your website.

Spinning in the profits with Link Wheel
Posted by timtim | Filed under Uncategorized
Link Wheel is another white hat SEO technique that is popular with online marketers today. It helps to gain linkbacks to a webpage you are promoting online. In this method, articles can be created and posted to Web 2.0 sites to give a webmaster’s hub pages a higher page rank amongst all the major search engines. The idea is to place a link in an article directed to the hub page and another link directed to another web 2.0 site containing an article with content similar to the first. This process continues till the last web 2.0 property. After this, the link will be redirected to the very first article, thereby forming a loop or a wheel. Each web 2.0 property will contain the links directed to the hub page.
The increase in links directed to the hub page will increase the page rank. However, to do this, the placement of keywords, relevant videos or pictures, and good quality content is essential. Creating back links from social networking sites like Twitter, Digg, StumbleUpon, Kaboodle, and others, which will be directed to any of the web 2.0 sites, is a good strategy. It is also advisable to create a link wheel that is smaller and centered towards it. This will help to promote your sponsors thereby ensuring a higher page for the hub page. The whole concept is similar to that of promoting advertisers on your site.
To better your page ranking you can also increase the number of Web 2.0 properties to increase its weight. The condition is that the content on each of the Web 2.0 sites must be related to each other in order to be linked. The topic and theme of the hub site should also be similar. If these conditions are followed properly, you are sure to get a higher page ranking for you hub page. It would be advisable to use the services of a SEO company to begin with. SEO companies today, include this method as part of their services. The creation of Web 2.0 sites and the promotion of each site are handled by an SEO company. However, before you engage the services of an SEO, make sure they are well versed with the technique. Combined with other SEO techniques this method ought to give you better results.
One of the limitations of this technique is that it is time consuming. This is because of the fact that you need to make unique articles to each Web 2.0 site. All the social networking sites need you to create unique accounts also. Article writing requires skills and it is only quality content that can produce results. If you have the budget, you can hire writers otherwise you will need to do them yourself. There are software that will enable you to automatically create accounts, however, that involves spending on reliable software. The list of Web 2.0 properties that you can use for link wheel building include Blogger, Quizilla, Squidoo, Zimbio, Wetpaint, ehow, Tumblr, among others.

Getting Hoards of Targeted Traffic
Posted by timtim | Filed under Uncategorized
Some people sell products from other website owners while others sell products and services that they offer. But whether you are selling your own or others, we need to drive tons of traffic to our website. You don’t just want any traffic - what you want is targeted and buying visitors.
When I first started internet marketing, I experimented on different methods for driving traffic. Some of the software or services that I bought did me no good.
The traffic tactics that I have proven to work well are listed below:
* Linking
Text links can either be paid or free. Adding links in e-zines or in other websites are some examples of paid linking methods. Since this method will cost you money, make sure to do your research first before leasing or purchasing link space. In most cases, if ezines are accepting advertising, you know they must have at least 500+ subscribers, or I should say, be sure that they have at least 500+ subscribers before advertising in their ezine.
Creating articles is one way of placing links for free . You may need to create many articles but it is proven to be beneficial in the long term. Attract your target visitors by placing relevant and valuable information in your articles.
* Pay-Per-Click
Search Engine Optimization is basically the optimization of your web pages so that you can get a decent ranking by the search engines. Although you get free traffic with SEO, optimizing your website can be time consuming.
These are just some of the most effective ways for traffic generation.

Backlinks = visitors
Posted by timtim | Filed under Uncategorized
Often referred to as inbound links, backlinks are the sledgehammer of search engine positioning and traffic generation. Backlinks have three key properties, the web page from which the backlinks originate, the anchor text of the backlinks and what’s on the page to which the backlinks sends the visitor to.
The amount of backlinks
The majority of search engines appraise the number of backlinks to a page when deciding where this page should be presented in the search results.
The origin of the backlinks
Backlinks are like votes - the higher the volume of votes (backlinks) the more relevant and popular the page is considered by the search engine. So it follows that pages with backlinks from ‘trusted pages will receive fairer consideration from the search engines. Government (.gov) and educational (.edu) sites are real examples of sites that are authoritative and trustworthy.
Google Page Rank
Google has the concept of ‘page rank’, this is the property it awards to a page it considers to have accumulated authority over time from backlinks pointing towards it.
The ‘anchor text’
When you see a backlink on a web page it sometimes has a label a word or text associated with the subject at the page to which this backlink is pointing, what this ‘anchor text’ says has influence upon the value the search engines award to the link. If the content of the page is about ‘parenting’ and the backlink on the page is labeled or given the ‘anchor’ text ‘parenting’ then the search engines consider this to be of more value to the searcher looking for sites related to ‘parenting’ than if the backlink was labeled ‘babycare’.
Common problems
It’s not rare for novices to confuse the quantity with the quality of backlinks and become quickly frustrated by their lack of progress Having a significant volume of backlinks to your page doesn’t necessarily mean the search engines will see your page as relevant.
How to manufacture backlinks
So here is my tried and tested advice for getting backlinks to your pages, good visibility in the search engine results pages and the right type of traffic to your site.
- Choosing the right keywords from the start is essential.
- I like to build a keyword ‘cloud’.
- I most often start with a single primary keyword or key phrase which has significant visitor traffic.
- To discover the volume of visitor traffic is being coming from searches for my top level keyword I use the Google keyword analyzer tool.
- The Google tool creates a list of keywords associated with my main keyword and from this list I create my cloud.
- From this cloud I generate a selection of content containing articles, videos and blog posts each with backlinks labeled with the appropriate anchor text and then utilize a portfolio of content distribution tools to send my articles and videos to a wide range of directories.
- My golden rule is to author content that will attract traffic and persuade them to follow the backlinks to my money pages as well as send backlinks.
